I also asked him if he had any old fashioned or antique cases since I loathe the material cases, cheap and ugly. He came up with two, one ugly wooden one that was not even worth five dollars, and this absolutely beautiful leather case made from alligator. It has orange interior and the case itself seemed very yellowed and the leather had begun to deteriorate, but he practically gave it to us for $25.00. I would have gotten it for over a hundred, but it was a smashing deal =)
When I got home, I conditioned the case so many times with special cleaners and leather repairing chemicals. Now it's a gorgeous brown and staying in one piece. The interior needs some TLC but it's still amazing. The key to the case was still there too! We were shocked. I just really wished I knew what year it was made in, easily over 60 years though. I could almost say that I love the case more than the actual violin!Freemijlcha
